Keywords:
Coexistence societies, homosexual unions.Abstract
This article analyzes the Cohabitation Society Act (“Ley de sociedad de convivencia”), as approved by the legislative assembly of the Federal District, Mexico and effective since March 17th 2007, in order to judge it from the point of view of its legal technique, by considering whether it attains or not its projected objectives of providing with legal security the union of couples of the same sex; and, also from the ethical-political perspective, that is, in terms of convenience for the Mexican society’s progress. The final judgment is that this act is technically deficient and politically harmful.
