Seguridad pública y prevención del delito en el Estado social de derecho. Especial comentario a la trascendencia de la educación
Keywords:
Public security, crime prevention, social and democratic State, education.Abstract
This work offers a delimitation of the public security and crime prevention concepts. A special reference is made to the orientation these concepts should have in a democratic State where crime is seen as a social problem. In contrast, criticism takes place around crime hindering policies and programs –like, for instance, the “zero tolerance” line– because of its repressive and stigmatizing nature. The different types of preventive methods are approached, and particular emphasis is made on education as one of the most essential elements of prevention.
