Abstract

This work is an introduction to the study of Antonio Gramsci`s political thought. Gramsci’s life complexity and the historical reality, in which he thinks and moves, made Gramsci’s Marxism a particular political line, different from the Marxist-Leninist point of reference. Gramsci’s Marxism is at the present time the most influential expression of Marxism in the Western world. His thoughts about hegemony, political and civil society are the result of a conception which intertwines political work with cultural work.

Author Biography

José Benjamín Rodríguez Iturbe, Universidad de La Sabana

Abogado, dos veces doctor en derecho (in utroque iure) civil y canónico. Fue profesor de las Universidades Montávila y Central de Caracas en Venezuela. Autor de quince libros. Fue presidente de la Cámara de Diputados de Venezuela y Representate a la Cámara de 1970 a 1999. Miembro de la Unión  Interparlamentaria, presidente de la Internacional Democráta Cristiana. Condecorado conla Orden Nacioanl al Mérito de Francia, la Orden del Libertador San Martín de la Argentina, la Orden de la Democracia del Congreso de Colombia, y en su patria con asl órdenes: Del Libertador y Francisco de Miranda, entre otras. Profesor asociado y director del Instituto de Humanidades de la Universidad de La Sabana.
