Abstract

Law is found, in great measure, in written sources of knowledge. The right treatment given to legal material is one of the main problems of academics and law professionals. This difficulty is due to diverse causes: sources are incalculable and have different nature; jurists lack, in many cases, proper research and writing skills; our science does not have a unified system of citation, among others. This article intends to give some guidelines in order to overcome said deficiencies, offering recommendations and suggestions on the proper way of treating and citing the sources which the jurist uses in his work. It also aims to render directives oriented to create an adequate art of writing cares over substantive part of the work as well as the formal.
