the intention of this paper is to classify the main legal interpretations of the work of st. thomas aquinas and to describe the more common misconceptions about his legal thinking. the reason for adopting a bipartite classification that divides explanatory interpretations and thomistic thinking is explained. the interpretations that only seek to make clear what aquinas says are addressed and his lines of thought are analyzed, drawing on several of the more important authors who have developed them. Against this backdrop, the paper ends with an indication of what have been the most common errors in the legal interpretation of thomistic thought.
